Eastside Capitol Gateway is a Main Street Program of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce. This program is supported by the Oklahoma City Council Economic Development Committee for the revitalization of N.E. 23rd Street (Clara Luper Corridor) with The Capitol Chamber Of Commerce.

This program is successfully integrating a strategy for physical improvement on N.E. 23rd street buildings and public spaces, with an aggressive promotion and image building program, and economic development for the area. Revitalization of N.E. 23rd street is not completely “City Hall’s Responsibility”. And yet, our business owners can’t do it alone. The joint efforts of N.E. 23rd merchants and all Local and State agencies will create a successful N.E. 23rd Revitalization project.

Eastside Capitol Gateway Main Street will follow the National Main Street four-point approach. The four areas that the Main Street volunteers will focus their attention on are: Organization, Design, Economic Revitalization and Promotion. The Main Street Program offers a unique approach to revitalization that has been successful in more than sixteen hundred towns and cities throughout the United States and several overseas countries.

• 1.8 MILLION DOLLARS PRIVATE FUND INVESTMENTS (WITHIN LAST YEAR)
• RECEIVED 3 FACADE GRANTS FOR NE 23RD STREET MERCHANTS (AWARDED JULY 2001)
• TRASH-OFF AWARD FROM DEPT. OF TRANSPORTATION “BEST FIRST TIME EVENT” (JULY 2001)
• TRASH-OFF AWARD FROM OKLAHOMA CITY “ ADOPT-A-STREET” (JULY 2002)
